Great example, you are setting and it was a refreshing to hear that a good example can lead to a bit of shame and a positive change in behavior. You deserve a Gold Medal in the saving humanity games!! We are undoubtedly screwed, if we don't come together to save ourselves from climate change and the extraordinary number of challenges to the survival of homo sapien sapiens (the present day humans). Even a cursory review of the fossil record reveals numerous hominids that have roamed the planet over many millennia until extinction.
It reminds me of the masking lunacy. I still carry extra masks with me whenever I leave the house, wear two and I'm fully vaccinated. In the last 18 months of pandemic, the dreaded opportunity to address in love and kindness (mostly), many maskless super spreaders has been ample. They were a abundant supply of entitled upper income white people. Barley middle class and desperate to stay under the ether Q fans, sympathetic to faith in authoritarians, who were so generously watching out for Real Americans. Just plain ignorant hatful rabid self professed Christian nationalist idolaters and the homeless or poor that could not afford masks at $10 per disposable. I am guessing that I encountered approximately 50 people more or less. Only two stand out as crazy lunatics that threw a tantrum about their rights and freedom. Many were actually grateful, said thank you and put on the mask. Some reluctantly took the mask and put it on, then took it off once they thought I was gone. Thankfully and to my surprise, no truly violent interactions occurred. I felt a sense of accomplishment with each newly masked person. First was overcoming the hesitancy of "do I really need a confrontation with a crazy person". It was a bit scary and a crap shoot, but I don't leave my home without legal, non-lethal self defense tools and put my faith in play as much as possible. Will this generation become the last to live on earth? I have no clue, however evidence suggests that we will kill ourselves off while dancing around the flames in rabid ecstasy, like an evening at "Burning Man" while civilization crumbles.
