Completely untrue. I was a child of the 60’s and came of age in the 80’s. Back then in most social circles homophobia was in-bedded into even liberal northeast. It was a lack of knowledge and scope. It was not fanatical, just a fact. I was a very heterosexual male and had default social construct, I was homophobic. However, as a young parent in the 90’s, I quickly understood on a spiritual and practical level my son was different. Not sure I quantify this for everyone, if your a parent of a LGBT youth, you just know. I would say that by age 7, I know my son was gay. He wasn’t dancing around in dressed or molesting other children. I just knew, he was borne that way.
