I also funamentally disagreed with the first of the two “Defund the Police” sentiments — that bad policing was not indicative of poor training (or even widespread corruption), but rather exposed the fact that police necessarily play an oppressive role in society, and are effectively remnants of white supremacist ideology. They are here to protect property, property which is owned largely by the white and the rich.
